Feather and Thistle at Home is more than just a name, its a deeply personal tribute to my dad. He was the hardest working man I have ever known, with a wicked sense of humour that could light up any room. He taught me life’s most valuable lessons, to be resilient, to stay true to who you are and to understand that that nothing worthwhile ever comes easy.

His wisdom, his laughter and his unwavering strength are all part of who I am today.

FEATHER- A message.

After he passed in 2019 I started to notice small white feathers appearing in the most unexpected places. One landed on my leg in the Fairmont in St Andrews, another fluttered around my face in a busy shopping centre in Glasgow. (More than likely his way to deter me from spending too much money). I have come to believe these moments are his way of still making me smile with the same cheeky humour continuing to bring me comfort even now.

THISTLE – A symbol

My dad was fiercely proud to be Scottish. Growing up, I spent weekends and school holidays travelling the length and breadth of the country in his lorry. We would stop for roadside picnics, surrounded by the kind of beauty that can take your breath away. These were the moments of quiet joy. The Thistle is strong, resilient and deeply rooted. This reminds me of those journeys and of him. Its a symbol of home, heritage and the love that raised me.
